My story...

My life in a nut shell so far...

Some moo cows from the farm.
I was born and raised on a dairy farm in rural Victoria. I am the middle child and some may say the 'problem' child of five. Growing up on the farm was the greatest, we had motorbikes, horses, heaps of other cool animals (including a talking cockatoo) and tons of room to move and be a kid.

When I turned 18 and was in my final year of high school I had to get serious and think about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. After many "I-wanna-be-a..." moments I figured I wanted to be a Primary School Teacher. I volunteered at the local primary school during my holidays and had my mind made up. After the much anticipated uni ENTER scores were released getting into any uni was going to be quite difficult with a score of 34. I was shattered and now completely at a loss as to what to do with my future! Everything is so much more dramatic at 18!

Lee and I back in '04.
So I decided I'd give Year 12 another crack. I also decided that this next crack would be had in Adelaide, 500km away from home. I moved in with two awesome girls and enrolled at a Senior College. I really put my head down and got on with the task at hand; to get a better score so I could go to uni. During that year I decided that I no longer wanted to do teaching. Instead I applied for nursing and midwife degrees in South Australia and Queensland. That year I also got a job at the local pub waitressing at nights and on weekends. This is where I met and fell in love with the kitchen hand. It took me almost four months to ask him out. But I finally got the courage and now almost eight years on and we are engaged and have begun our family. (You can read about our adventures of beginning a family here!)
My family.
Poppy. 94 years old and still cracking on!

Our first baby, Bruce.
I did finish Year 12 in Adelaide and I more than doubled my score with a ENTER of 84.5. I was accepted to both of my first preferences in SA and QLD. However, Lee and my relationship had only begun and I really wanted to see if it was the real deal! Luckily (for him, I tell him!) because my life wouldn't be as fulfilled as it is now if I had have let that one go and chose my career prospects instead.
The Beauty Therapist

We lived in Adelaide for another two and half years where I studied Thoroughbred Racing and planned to work with horses in the racing industry. I know, I know teaching, to nursing now to horses! We then moved to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and in a matter of months the Equine Flu was in full force and my dreams of working in stables were put to a halt. I then decided to get into the Beauty industry and completed my Diploma of Beauty Therapy. We stayed on the Coast for another year and then moved to Geelong, Victoria. Here I, finally, enrolled at uni to do.....TEACHING!!!

40 weeks.
I worked part time at a beauty salon but by the end of the year we had decided that Geelong just wasn't the place for us and we packed up once more to head back to the Sunny Coast and I am happy to say WE ARE STAYING!!! No more moving! AND no more career moves. I should have trusted my instincts years ago and gone into teaching then. But I guess life takes you on some strange and wonderful journeys and I probably would never have reached this point without all the experience I have gained before now.  And all the amazing people I have met and become friends with. Plus now I can wax myself for free!!!

Little Alexa button!
Now I enter a new stage of my life- MUMMYHOOD! I have been looking forward to this time for a long long while now and am over the moon that the little button is in our lives. My blog will contain natterings of my life, my loves, and also my quest to become a fully fledged vegan (you may also like to read this post about why I have decided to become vegan). I hope you enjoy...xo
